It's been a brilliant few months for gaming fans, with the launches of GT5 Prologue, Mario Kart Wii, and especially Wii Fit and Grand Theft Auto IV all going down a storm for a record-breaking April.

Those enormous titles aren't the only games looking likely to do huge numbers. Here's our top picks for the rest of the year...

Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) - 12 June 08

The biggest exclusive PS3 game of the year, we're getting fully behind MGS4.

Alone in the Dark (multi-format) - 20 June 08

Alone in the Dark promises to reinvent Survival Horror, with frighteningly lifelike visuals, fantastic physics and a DVD Chapter Select style feature which means everyone can complete the game.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) - 27 June 08

This third edition of Nintendo's massively popular fighting franchise has been six years in waiting, so it's bound to fly off the shelves. New characters include Wario, Diddy Kong, Solid Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog, and great reviews suggest this might be as big as Mario Kart.

Spore (PC & DS) - 05 September 08

The year's biggest PC title by a mile, Spore comes from the creator of The Sims, letting players create a creature from a microbe and evolve it to an entire galactic space faring species! Out in September, a DS version will also be available.

Gears of War 2 (XBox360) - November 08

Gears of War 2 promises a bigger, better, even more bombastic second outing for Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad. An epic tale of survival, loss and retribution, we're expecting massive sales from the sequel to 2006's stand-out shooter.
